The cell membrane is located on the outside of an animal cell and just inside the cell wall in a plant cell. It is composed of phospholipids and embedded proteins. Its function is to control what gets in or out of the cell and allows the cell to have different chemicle environments than what is surroundion it.
Cell Wall
The cell wall is located outside the membrane only on plant cells. It is a rigid covering made up of cellulose. Its function is to maintain the cells shape, provide protection, and, like the cell membrane, controls what gets in or out of the cell.
